Adding Mixed Numbers
When Mixed Numbers are Added, those
Mixed Numbers must first be changed to Improper Fractions.

To add these mixed numbers, change them to improper fractions.

With like denominators, add the numerators.
The sum of the numerators becomes the new numerator.
The denominator remains the same.

If the answer results in an improper fraction, then
change that improper fraction to a mixed number.

If the resulting proper fraction can be reduced, then do so.

With unlike denominators, the improper fractions
must first be changed to improper fractions with
like denominators.

RULE
Adding Mixed Numbers
Change the Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions.
If the Denominators are different, change those Improper
 Fractions to Improper Fractions with Like Denominators.
 Otherwise, keep the same Denominator.
Add the Numerators, keeping the Like Denominator.
Change any Improper Fraction to a Mixed Number.
If the Proper Fraction can be Reduced, then do so.
